CMAT 480 - Portfolio Development

By the end of the course...

  1. You should be able to identify appropriate jobs based on advertisements.

  2. You should be able to craft a letter of application that effectively showcases

  3. your strengths for a particular job.

  4. You should have a well-written resume.

  5. You should have a portfolio that reflects your communication-related strengths.

Class Structure

The class will meet as scheduled for the first few weeks of the term. After that, the schedule will become somewhat flexible: sometimes the entire class will meet; sometimes smaller groups will meet; sometimes there will be individual conferences; and sometimes there will be no class at all, giving you that much more time to produce and refine your portfolio materials.

Grades

Your grade in this course will be determined by the quality of your portfolio, resume, and cover letters. Borderline grades will be determined by attendance, attention to deadlines, and other intangibles.
