Multimedia Lab Drive Set Up Directions [read and understand these first]

Using EditDV - Creating a New Project

  1. Check yourdrive assignment. You must store your material on the assigned drive. If you violate this policy, your work will be deleted.
  2. On the assigned drive, create a folder (File>New Folder) and name it with your first and last names.
  3. Within that folder, create two more folders. Name them: source and render.
  4. Launch EditDV.
  5. Create a New Project. The software will ask what project you want to open. Pick "New". Then pick 32kHz NTSC.
  6. Save that project in your folder (not in the source or render folders) but the base folder. Make sure you name it using your last name and the word Project (e.g. Simon Project). Spaces are OK. Note: It is that Project File (and the .old version) that you need to save to your zip EVERYTIME YOU FINISH A SESSION. If you have that file, you can recreate your entire piece in very little time. Things have happened to student work on these machines.
  7. Go to File>Preferences>Media Drive.
  8. In the "Capture Media To" window, click Add. Navigate until you find your "Source" folder.
  9. In the "Generate Media to" window, click "select folder", navigate until you find your "Render" folder.
  10. Click OK and Save.

Using EditDV - Using a Saved Project [It is VERY important you follow these steps. If not, you could delete another persons project and risk the deletion of your project].

  1. Double click on your saved Project. This will launch the program .
  2. Go to File>Preferences>Media Drive.
  3. In the "Capture Media To" window, click Add. Navigate until you find your "Source" folder.
  4. In the "Generate Media to" window, click "select folder", navigate until you find your "Render" folder.
  5. Click OK and Save.

Digitizing

You can only digitize from "Dopey" and "Sneezy" even though you can edit from any machine.
