Audio Soundbed

Either in ProTools or in EditDV, create the audio track for your :30 commercial.

ProTools LE Skills (what you need to understand about using the software)
ProTools and Audio "B" (what you need to understand about using ProTools with Audio Room "B")
Audio Board Information

Things to keep in mind:

  1. Audio Levels. Are they consistant? Does primary audio peak at 0db? Secondary audio peak at -20 to -10 db?
  2. Overall mix. Does the sound effects (sfx) drown out the dialogue? Do you have dead audio space? Remember nothing is completely silent.
  3. Does the Music fit the mood? Are your SFX appropriate?
  4. Does your actor fit the bill? Does the voice say what you're trying to communicate. (you don't have to do your own voice work. You may bring in anyone you feel is appropriate for the job.)

Supplies:

All sound effect records and cd's and stock music are stored in Audio Room "A". Ask the lab assistant for access.

Format

Turn this in as a mixed down AIFF or MOV (quicktime) file either on a zip, cd-rom (burner located in the Multimedia Lab) or put back out on to tape. (If you turn in a zip...I will keep it for one week for grading purposes, so make sure nothing you need is on it.)

How to turn your audio session into an AIFF or Quicktime File (EditDV can only inport AIFF or Quicktime):
