Adobe InDesign [Part 1]

Prerequisites:	A working knowledge of Mac OS X or Windows XP/Vista

Dates:	Winter 2009 - Tuesday thru Thursday, Jan 13 - 15, 5:30pm-8pm Spring 2009 - Tuesday thru Thursday, Jun 2 - 4, 5:30pm-8pm

This workshop introduces users to this powerful desktop publishing program, and gives them the basic skills to use InDesign's tools to create simple documents. Students will design various projects and become acquainted with the basic tools. Your registration fee includes all booklets and instruction manuals used in the course for you to keep.

Topics include:

• Setting up a new publication
• Basic type tools, typography and paragraph formatting
• Working with text and picture frames (fills, strokes, etc...)
• Multicolumn and threading/unthreading text boxes
• Importing/linking graphics and wrapping text (including different graphic types and using clipping paths)
• Using layers (creating additional layers, moving objects)
• Using Step and repeat to copy objects, the transformation tools, and opacity
• Introduction to paragraph and character-based style sheets
• Creating and using colors, custom colors and gradients
• Basic use of the pen tool
