The Institute, founded in 1989, sponsors research, publications, conferences, symposia, and special programs for students, faculty, alumni, and the general public, while supporting capital fundraising efforts in the department and on behalf of the graduate program's labs and activities. Publication Design students, faculty, and alumni are intensely and intimately engaged in the work and activities of the Institute. The Institute for Language, Technology, and Publications Design combines writing, design, and information technology with communications theory to serve as a link between the professional and academic communities. It exists to help UB students, faculty, and alumni observe and analyze the past, present, and the future. Together we learn from the past and the present. Together we invent our futures.
