Recovery
Cooler today, but the bones
of the building hold the heat—
yesterday looking to change places
with today. Wait out the heat,
wait it out. Surrender
could come at any moment, a swirl
of leaves; a meeting. If you say
nothing much happens in this life,
the leaves will dance around you,
they will fly up and mock you.

About the Cover
Colin Ives began "documenting" every grapefruit he ate, his morning meal, after his friend and fellow artist Michael Evans had a heart attack and died in 1992. What started as an attempt to cope with his friend's death and make art a daily ritual, like breakfast, took on an experimental life of its own. There are over 700 images in the collection.
