Hanju Lee
Corporate Communication, 2000
Publications Design, 2004
Current Student, MFA/Integrated Design
Hanju Lee ('00, '04) attended Dundalk Community College after a scholarship in his native Seoul, Korea. Planning to attend the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), he instead chose UB's corporate communication program in order to obtain a wider variety of skills, and also took classes at MICA/The Maryland Institute College of Art.
Armed with his corporate communication degree, as well as his skills as an artist and designer, Hanju became the first art director for the magazine American Conservative, and then moved to Print Manage, a Baltimore design firm. In order to enhance his print, web, and video design skills, he returned to UB, first as a M.A./Ppublications Ddesign major and then as one of the first students in UB's new MFA program in Integrated Design. Hanju says, "UB is not just a school; it's a home away from home. Other schools emphasize only one part of design, while at UB I've learned many different design skills. And every class has resulted in projects that I use in my portfolio."
Sue Tatterson
Corporate Communication, 2006
Current Student, MFA/Integrated Design
Sue Tatterson ('06) came to the corporate communication Program after completing an A.A. degree in Computer Graphics and Visual Communication at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC). She entered the accelerated corporate communication/publications design program, graduated with honors from corporate communication in May 2006, and is now working on her MFA in Integrated Design. While at UB she returned to CCBC as an intern teaching web design and stayed on as an adjunct instructor teaching Design and Layout and Designing with Type.
Sue worked in several UB offices while completing her corporate communication degree: in the university's Academic Resource Center as a tutor; at the Center for Community Technology Services as a web design consultant; and at the Schaefer Center for Public Policy as their in-house designer, where she continues to work. Sue says the main thing she misses about her native Australia are the deserted beaches, and every summer she tries to find their equivalent in the U.S.
