The School of Communications Design picks up where traditional programs
in the liberal arts leave off: at the threshold of practical applications
where learning meets life; on the frontier of art and commerce; along
the junction that connects word and image; and in various gaps and fissures
that separate old from new media, mature from emerging markets, continuity
from innovation.
Not that we ignore the past -- the School remains an excellent place to study
poetry, fiction, drama, epic, and vital forms of critical practice -- but we
emphasize approaches that have direct relevance to today's society and culture.
This section of our Web site describes the programs through which we put
these ideas into practice: our two undergraduate degrees in English and Corporate
Communication, our M.A. in Publications Design,
and our MFA programs in Creative Writing & Publishing
Arts and Integrated Design.
