NOTE: This is representative of the syllabi for this
course. It is not necessarily the syllabus being used in any one semester.
Course Description: This course explores the search for identity through
autobiographical works of literature, film, the arts, and other media.
Issues of self-discovery within social expectations will receive special
attention.
Course Requirements: Students will be expected to be familiar with all assigned
material before class and participate intelligently in discussions both in the
classroom and online. Students will also submit both a written
autobiography and an autobiography in a nonverbal medium to fulfill course
requirements. Grades will be based on the following formula: Class
participation 40%; autobiographies, 30% apiece.
