Creativity
PBDS 620
NOTE: This is representative of the syllabi for this course.
It is not necessarily the syllabus being used in any one semester.
This course will explore the creative process, the five senses, and relationships between written and verbal expression
& sources of inspiration. Through a series of weekly projects, you will
develop new ways of seeing & begin,or continue, to "find" your
voice as a writer, thinker, and everyday person.
* Be sure to sign onto this class's email listserv:

Presence
Attendance. The class is experiential,so material covered
can't be recreated. If you should miss a class, talk with classmates about
the experience (not the instructors) and check Astro listserve* for posted
assignments.
The class will be much more alive if you're "in"
it. Here's the score,if you miss one class, no questions asked. Thereafter,
each class missed brings your grade down by one-third (in other words, a plus
or minus).
Punctuality. If you miss more than a
half hour each day (coming late or leaving early), it counts as half a day's
absence.
Those
Pesky Grades
In a course such as this, it's important you feel
free to experiment & take big risks. You won't, therefore, receive grades
on individual assignments. Your final grade will be based on attendance; completion
of all assignments, including the required reading & pillow book; your
work ethic in class; your engagement with the course's developing ideas; &
your big project. If you'd like to know "where you're at," check
with us (just give us a little time beforehand,we'll need to get out our abacus).
"To begin to understand the gorgeous fever that is
consciousness, we must try to understand the senses, and what they can teach
us about the ravishing world we have the privilege to inhabit."
-Diane
Ackerman
